Children in Need Pie Face Challenge

Children in Need Pie Face Challenge

We are delighted to have been invited as a guest of honour at the BBC Children in Need (CiN) South West appeal night, broadcasting live from The University of Exeter on 17th November.

This year’s Children in Need campaign is encouraging everyone taking part to ‘do your thing’ and in line with what they love to do most, Cornwall’s oldest bakery is using our craft British baking skills to raise funds for the annual event. Launching our CiN campaign into Warrens Bakery stores across Devon, Cornwall and Bristol from Friday 3rd November, the expert team of bakers are attempting to break their fundraising record set in 2014.

Running a raffle prize draw to help them reach their target, customers who purchase raffle tickets will automatically be in with a chance of winning one of 50 specially designed, hand-crafted celebration cakes, as well as one of two luxury Cornish Christmas Hampers worth £72.50 each or one of five £10 vouchers. Winners of the celebration cakes will be chosen in store on 19th November and the winners of the Christmas Hampers and Warrens Bakery vouchers will be chosen once all entries have been sent to our Head Office in St Just.

With a CiN celebration cake on display at every store taking part, fundraising this autumn has been spearheaded by Julie Martyn, Manager of Warrens Bakery in Ivybridge near Plymouth. The team at BBC Spotlight were so impressed with the fundraising tenacity from Julie and the wider Warrens Bakery team that they have collectively decided to invite them as guest at this year’s BBC Children in Need South West appeal night.

Julie is excited to be representing the team at the official appeal night, commenting – “I am so humbled that Warrens Bakery are going above and beyond to help our shops fundraise for this amazing cause. To get our name out there as fundraisers is more than I ever hoped for.”

Children in Need is the BBC’s UK charity. Since 1980 it has raised over £600 million for disabled children and young people in the UK. As part of the fundraising efforts by Warrens Bakery, Area Managers, Production Managers and members of the Board have all volunteered to be part of the first ever ‘Cream Pie Challenge’. If teams raise over £5,500 Area Managers will be putting themselves forward for a pie in the face, whilst if over £6,000 is raised, Board Members will be stepping up to the Cream Pie Challenge plate instead!

To help us rise to the record-breaking fundraising challenge, drop into your local store to purchase a raffle ticket and be in with a chance of winning.

Good luck!
