Behind the Scenes with Martha Collison
Martha visited our bakery in St. Just, on the windswept Land’s End Peninsula for a behind the scenes tour from Head Baker, Jason Jobling (also Chairman of the Cornish Pasty Association). With an unparalleled heritage in British baking, the collaboration with Martha provided us with the perfect opportunity to showcase the long-established skills of our dedicated team of expert bakers.
In her tour around the bakery, Martha was delighted to observe our craft techniques that we use throughout the production of our extensive range of pasties, cakes and pastries. Martha commented, “The thing that I found really interesting and refreshing to see at Warrens Bakery in St Just was the number of passionate people working in the factory, creating properly handmade products. I learnt so much about the level of planning and attention to detail that goes into each bake, and the whole team do everything so joyfully.”.
Our bakery is renowned for its innovative style and its extensive array of craft products, including artisan breads, sweet and savoury scones, deep-filled muffins, award winning Christmas puddings, luxury biscuits and other treats, many based on secret recipes over 100-years-old. In recent times we have pioneered Vegan Pasties, Roast Pasties, Cream Tea Muffins, and more exciting products.
Martha even had a go at hand-crimping our pasties, commenting “I had never seen a Cornish pasty being made before and was stunned by the speed the team of bakers could crimp the edges in! It really wasn’t as easy as they made it look”… Keep an eye on our news as to whether Martha’s crimping made the line!
