Introducing Martha Collison
We have partnered with young baker, recipe writer and British baking star Martha Collison to uncover the craft of British baking. Martha has a deep rooted heritage in the South West and is working with our team to highlight the importance of British baking, why holding onto it is so important and to celebrate the best of traditional British baking.
Martha Collison is a young British baker and recipe writer, currently living in Brighton where you will find her mostly in the kitchen, cooking and writing away.
Her love of baking has stemmed, somewhat unusually, from her parent’s relaxed attitude to letting a small child loose in the kitchen and hasn’t stopped since opening her first recipe book, at only eight years old.
Appearing as a contestant on ‘The Great British Bake Off’ in 2014 was the start of Martha’s career and at just 17, she managed to make it all the way to the quarter final as the youngest-ever contestant to date.
Martha has continued to grow in the food industry, writing a weekly column for Waitrose Weekend, demonstrating at festivals, high profile events and now she is going back to her roots as a brand ambassador for Warrens Bakery, the oldest Cornish bakery in the World, together demonstrating the craft of traditional yet innovative British craft baking.
Rediscovering her South-West roots through her partnership with Warrens Bakery, Martha reminisces holidaying in North Cornwall, “I have fond memories of country walks, drinking hot chocolate in wetsuits on beaches in the rain, eating Cornish pasties with legs dangling over Padstow harbour and picking out chunks of fudge from quaint shops with my little sister.”.
Martha’s festive twist on her Bread & Butter Pudding recipe, using Warrens Bakery’s freshly baked Sourdough, is set to be available as a recipe card to pick up in all of our stores or to download by clicking here.
