At Warrens Bakery, we’ve always celebrated Cornish culture — from the craft of our pasties to the pride we take in our heritage. So, when renowned Cornish folk singer-songwriter Will Keating approached us about his latest endeavour to inspire young voices in Camborne, we knew we had to get involved.
Throughout February, Will visited ten Camborne primary schools, sharing his passion for music and storytelling. Through song and community spirit, he led workshops for over 1,000 children aged 4 to 11 as part of the Camborne Schools Project – a heartfelt initiative designed to foster pride in local identity and enrich wellbeing.
And now, the big moment is here! On March 6th, these talented young voices will come together at Hall for Cornwall in Truro for a powerful Cornish mass sing. Joining them will be local icons like international rugby star Josh Matavesi and songwriting legend Harry Glasson, making the day even more unforgettable.
As Will himself puts it, “taking 1,000 children from Camborne to sing at Hall for Cornwall is incredibly special. It’s fun, uplifting, and helps strengthen their cultural identity.”
We couldn’t agree more. Supporting this project aligns perfectly with our values — and as the oldest Cornish pasty maker in the world, it’s an honour to help nurture Cornish traditions in the next generation.
The schools taking part include Penponds, Rosemellin, Troon, St Meriadoc, Roskear, Weeth, Crowan, Kehelland, Trevithick Academy, and St John’s Catholic Primary.
This project is expected to positively impact around 6,500 people, including children, families, and educators. It’s a testament to what happens when a community comes together — just like we do at Warrens, baking with care since 1860.
