Meet Aimee who is currently undertaking a level 2 Production Chef apprenticeship with Warrens Bakery where she will gain hands-on experience in preparing, cooking and finishing a range of dishes.
As part of her role, Aimee assists in maintaining the kitchen and equipment, adhering to health, safety and hygiene regulations, and understanding and implementing portion control and waste management.

What is the best thing about working at Warrens?
The team – everyone is so friendly.
What does a typical day look like in your role and your apprenticeship?
Every day is different, I am always learning new skills from the head cook or my college lecturers. I then get to apply these in my role and practice until I am confident.
What made you want to apply for an apprenticeship with Warrens?
I enjoyed working in the kitchen, so when my line manager approached me regarding an apprenticeship it seemed like a good opportunity to progress my career.
What skill have you learnt so far in your apprenticeship that you are most proud of?
My knife skills – I feel I am efficient and safe when preparing ingredients.
What are your plans when you finish your apprenticeship?
I would like to stay with Warrens to further develop my skills and knowledge and then one day progress to a bigger kitchen.
