National Doughnut Day – 2nd June 2023

National Doughnut Day is here once again, and at Warrens we love a good doughnut. Whether you’re a purist and prefer a ring doughnut with icing and sprinkle, a la Homer Simpson, or you prefer something indulgent and crammed with Biscoff Cream, we’ve got everything you need to make National Doughnut Day memorable!

National Doughnut Day is celebrated on the first Friday of June of each year, succeeding the doughnut event created by The Salvation Army in Chicago 1938 to honour those of their members who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I to boost morale. It was a successful effort and led soldiers to use the slogan “doughnuts will win the war!”

  • The world record for doughnut eating, set in 2002, is 49 glazed doughnuts in eight minutes.
  • In 2014 a Sheffield mathematician calculated that the perfect ring doughnut is 72-82mm in diameter with a hole that is 11mm in diameter.
  • Canada is said to have more doughnut shops per head of population than any other country.
  • National Doughnut Week has raised £850,074 for charities, selling more than 14 million doughnuts

Our  luxury doughnuts are available 4 for £10, and you can add a regular hot drink for £1 extra.
